Welcome to the Crew: Guest Preparation Guide

Thank you so much for being willing to share you stories and insights with us! To help us create an incredible experience for both you and our listeners, here is a quick overview on how we run our show and what you can expect during your experience.

Preparing for an Incredible Conversation

We are so excited to sit down with you and hear your story and learn from your experience. Our goal with this podcast is to help others more fully appreciate every moment they have on this planet and to learn from those who have pushed themselves — or been pushed by outside forces to — to pass through experiences that often in hindsight make us better, stronger human beings. Your stories and insights make this happen and we are incredibly grateful for your willingness to share that with us. As such, we want to make this experience as positive for you as it is for our listeners.

01

Our Conversation Style

We specialize in long-format, deep-dive conversations. Our goal isn’t to just talk philosophy or metaphors, or to share interesting stories, but to immerse our audience in what it’s like to face harrowing moments and live through those. To know, and understand, and come to appreciate every moment we have on this planet and the fact that growth often only comes to us when we face our fears and press forward even when we want to give up.

The Pre-Interview Process (Unrecorded)

Before we hit the record button, we will jump on a brief, unrecorded pre-interview call. This is just a casual chat to get to know you, map out our conversation, and ensure you feel completely comfortable.

03

What We’ll Map Out During the Pre-Interview

Your Story: We want to understand who you were before and after the storm hit and key points before, during, and after the story that will be important to cover. (Note: Your comfort is paramount. If there are parts of your life or experience you want to keep off-limits, just say the word).

Painting the Picture: To make the audience feel like they are right there with you, I might stop you mid-story to ask for sensory details or to explain specialized terminology common to your culture, sport, industry, or environment. Are there an iconic moments or a specific details that you think we need to really describe for the audience to fully understand the seriousness of the experience?

Wisdom: Pushing ourselves beyond our limits — or getting pushed — generally teaches us things that every day life cannot and often changes our perspective. At the end of the show, we always ask for your ultimate takeaways. What are some principles or philosophies or perspectives you wish you could drive home to others as a result of your experience, or what advice would you give to someone who is up against a similar White Squall?

The Interview

The first 15 minutes will be technical checks to make sure the software and equipment are working. Once we confirm everything is good we’ll jump right in.

I use Riverside Studio to record. The software will record the audio and video locally and then upload as we go. Please leave your computer on for 10-20 minutes after the interview is over so Riverside can finish uploading any files.

I will record the intro after our conversation, so we will just jump right into the conversation like you are talking with a friend on the phone.

I am super looking forward to our conversation

This is going to be AWESOME!

Thanks again for being willing to make this happen. I truly believe your story, insights, and wisdom will leave a lasting difference in the lives of thousands of people.
